Troops step up patrols in Karachi after bomb blast

Pakistani paramilitary troops on Wednesday stepped up street patrols across Karachi, the southern port city and the country’s business capital, after Tuesday’s bomb blast at a Sunni Muslim gathering left at least 57 people dead.

The attack was the worst of its kind in recent memory, even by the standards of violence in Karachi, which has seen several similar attacks in the past.
