Britons ‘in denial’ about flooding

Britons put themselves at greater risk of flooding by their “state of denial” about the problem, the government’s adviser on the subject warned on Monday.

Householders and businesses failed to ascertain whether they were at risk of flooding and even failed to refurbish buildings with flood prevention measures after they had been flooded, said Sir Michael Pitt, author of the review on the lessons learned from last year’s disastrous floods.
