Qimonda files for insolvency

Qimonda, the German maker of memory chips, has filed for insolvency in another indication of the tough times facing technology companies.

The decision was blamed by Munich-based Qimonda on the financial crisis and a massive drop in the price of dynamic random access chips (Dram), which it produces. It came only a month after Qimonda revealed a €325m rescue package that was meant to help it out of its financial difficulties.
