London City airport has won planning permission to increase the number of take-offs and landings by about 50 per cent.
The airport has grown fast with passenger volumes rising by more than 20 per cent a year in 2006 and 2007. It was bumping up against its limit of 80,000 movements a year, but last night the local planning authority approved a 50 per cent increase to 120,000 movements annually.
