Warning over resources for split ministry

Trade unions, prison reform campaigners and opposition MPs warned on Tuesday that today's creation of a new Ministry of Justice and slimmed-down Home Office risked unravelling because of a lack of funding and in-adequate planning.

Civil service unions said ministers had failed to learn the lessons of previous Whitehall reorganisations, which showed that two departments could not be spun out of one with the same resources without damaging services.
