S Korea to resume US beef imports

Democratic lawmakers on Friday dashed hopes that a South Korean agreement to end a ban on US beef imports would quickly lead to ratification of a trade deal between the countries.

Sander Levin, chairman of the House ways and means trade sub-committee, said: “A last-minute, unenforce­able, untested agreement on beef is not enough to satisfy Congress. The problem with this [trade agreement] has always been broader than beef.”
