Consumers alienated by shoddy service

Companies are alienating consumers with shoddy customer service and unrelenting sales pitches, according to a report from the National Consumer Council.

The government-backed agency warns today that businesses too often focus on making a quick profit at the expense of longer-term relationships with customers.
