Militants step up attacks in Pakistan

At least 32 people were killed in three separate attacks in Pakistan yesterday, the latest outbreak of violence in this week's surge of militant activity.

The attacks were launched amid a big army offensive against Pakistani Taliban militant strongholds in South Waziristan, near the Afghan border. The offensive has raised fears the insurgents will step up a suicide bombing campaign on urban targets.
