The end is nigh for Channel Four’s television series Big Brother. My hope is that its demise will be swiftly followed by other reality television formats that involve the humiliation of real people, including Dragons’ Den, The Apprentice and Gerry’s Big Decision.

I am convinced that the mood of the nation has changed since these programmes started and people would prefer business television that is positive and inclusive.
