Profits plunge at Emirates

Half year profits at Emirates, the leading Middle East airline, fell steeply under pressure from record fuel costs.

The group said net profits had declined by 88 per cent in its first six months to the end of September from Dhs2.36bn to Dhs284m ($77m) reflecting the growing crisis in global aviation.
