Dip in business jet orders dents Bombardier

Second-quarter profits fell sharply at Bombardier as the global recession continued to hurt its core business jet market. But the declines were less dramatic than expected, prompting a rally in the Canadian train and aircraft maker’s shares.

Pierre Beaudoin, chief executive of Bombardier, said: “We are taking the necessary actions to face the current difficult economic environment which continues to have an impact on our results.”
