Soros gives $3m to fight TB

George Soros, the billionaire philanthropist, yesterday strengthened his work in the global health sector with a $3m grant towards international efforts to fight the growing problem of extremely drug-resistant tuberculosis.

The money will go towards work by two US-based public health groups in developing treatment approaches in Lesotho that should provide a model for patientswith both HIV and drug-resistant TB in sub-Saharan Africa.
