Under scrutiny, but an ideal vehicle for pension funds

Proponents of alternative investment have worked hard to overturn investor suspicions and boost pension fund allocations to hedge funds, property and private equity.

Such efforts have reaped rich rewards, particularly for private equity with UK pension funds accounting for two-thirds of the nation’s private equity investment, according to evidence heard at a government select committee in July.
