Jostle to join City’s medieval club

Three groups encompassing an intriguing range of ancient and modern professions are vying for the right to form City livery companies, the associations descended from medieval guilds.

Their enthusiasm testifies to the continuing pull of the City of London in spite of its chequered role in the credit crunch.
