China sends Rio case to state prosecutors

The Chinese authorities have concluded their investigation into the conduct of Stern Hu, the Rio Tinto executive imprisoned in China for more than six months, and three other employees of the Anglo-Australian mining group and handed over the case to state prosecutors, the Australian government said on Monday.

Canberra said that a decision on whether the case would be brought to trial now rested with the Shanghai People’s Procuratorate.
