Mecom dips on fall in ad sales and profits

Shares in Mecom fell more than 15 per cent as the continental European newspaper group said “more challenging economic conditions” had emerged during the first half of 2008 when advertising sales and operating profit declined.

Mecom, founded by David Montgomery, the former Mirror Group executive, said the performance in the rest of the year would be merely “stable”.
