William Hill ‘would still move jobs offshore’

Bookmaker William Hill would continue to look at moving jobs and operations offshore in spite of successfully lobbying Alistair Darling, the chancellor, to prevent punitive duty increases on bookmakers in the Budget, its chief executive said.

Bookmakers warned the chancellor before the Budget that increases in gross profits tax on betting would stifle competitiveness, particularly for their online businesses, and force them to consider relocating staff.
