BA to charge fees for best seats

British Airways passengers will be able to choose their favourite seats in advance from next month but only if they pay up to £120 extra under a new plan that prompted claims the airline was behaving like a low-cost carrier.

BA on Friday described the charging system, which comes into effect on October 7, as “a new service to give customers more control over their seating options”.
