Elisa Steele has joined Yahoo as its chief marketing officer. Ms Steele reports to Carol Bartz, the company’s chief executive, who said: “Yahoo’s marketing strategy and teams have become decentralised over time. Hiring Elisa will quickly mobilise our plan to integrate the function globally.”

Ms Steele was previously senior vice president of corporate marketing at NetApp, where she led the company’s global brand strategy. Before that, she led Sun’s integrated marketing and merchandising organisation and also worked at JavaSoft and AT&T. She has an MBA from San Francisco State University.
