Age discrimination: Minefield awaits the unwary

Age discrimination laws that come into effect in October are likely to force many employers to rethink their recruitment, retention and retirement policies.

The laws, which will introduce unlimited damages awards for discrimination against workers on the grounds of age, will increase the rights of older staff and make it difficult for employers to justify default retirement ages of less than 65.
