Ladbrokes feels pain of betting slip

Increasingly cautious gamblers have cut back on their wagers, bruising profits at Ladbrokes and forcing the bookmaker to cut its dividend and tighten its cost-cutting programme. The group also announced plans to shift its online sports betting operations to Gibraltar.

Chris Bell, chief executive, said: “I have to say that the economy has taken its toll on betting and we’ve had a tough time.”
