NBC fortunes tied to cable portfolio

Last week, Jeff Zucker, chief executive of NBC Universal, was asked if there was anything about the job that had proved more challenging than expected since his promotion nearly a year ago. Sitting in his office high above Rockefeller Center, Mr Zucker squinted in thought and there was an extended silence.

“Honestly, not really,” he replied finally.
