Writer who championed nuclear power

David Fishlock, science editor of the Financial Times from 1967 to 1991, has died suddenly, aged 77. He acted as a bridge between the worlds of research and business for FT readers, with a particular talent for identifying fields that later led to important industries.

Sir Gordon Newton, former FT editor, recruited Fishlock from New Scientist, the weekly magazine, where he had been technology editor.
