Terror suspects face indefinite detention after Guantánamo

Barack Obama yesterday sought to overcome mounting congressional opposition to his plan to close the Guantánamo Bay detention camp as he said the US might continue to indefinitely detain some suspected terrorists held at the facility.

The president insisted that the US-run prison in Cuba still needed to be shut down as it was a "rallying cry" for the country's enemies.
