Overview: Central bankers add to equities’ momentum

Global equities maintained their upward march for much of the week as cautious optimism from central banks helped assuage doubts that markets were running ahead of the wider economic recovery.

Central bankers from the US, UK and Japan offered improved outlooks for their respective economies, while data showing that France and Germany returned to growth in the second quarter gave further encouragement to investors.
