Q: After flying first class on British Airways from Bangkok recently. I had to queue about 25 minutes at passport control. There is a fast track, by invitation only, but when I and some other passengers with UK passports tried to use it they were told it was for foreign passport holders only. Is this the case? And if so why? LS, health and safety manager, London
A: British Airways says the staff member who turned you away was correct. Fast track on arrival is reserved for non-EU passport holders travelling on first or business class tickets. BA explains: “The reason is that the vast majority of passengers from outside the EU are interviewed, whereas if you are a UK citizen you usually only need to show your passport and generally get through immigration fairly quickly.” You were unlucky to suffer such a long wait.
