UK unveils green car subsidies

Buyers of electric cars will get subsidies ranging up to as much as £5,000 under plans unveiled on Thursday by the government to boost low-carbon transport.

The incentives, announced by Lord Mandelson, business secretary, and Geoff Hoon, transport secretary, were part of £250m of funding towards electric cars announced in January.
