Billionaire adds king of bling to royal jeweller

Ron Burkle, the Californian billionaire, has acquired a big minority stake in the business of Stephen Webster, the British jeweller famous for designing the gem-encrusted creations worn by celebrities from David Beckham to Madonna.

Mr Webster told the Financial Times that Mr Burkle would buy "close to 50 per cent" of his company, which has seven stores from London to Tokyo.
