Thorntons outlook a sweetener for investors

Thorntons went some way to restoring investors’ confidence dented by a thinly veiled profits warning this year, when the chocolatier and retailer issued a cautiously optimistic outlook on the back of better-than-expected revenue.

Fourth-quarter sales rose 3.6 per cent at its own stores on a like-for-like basis, although analysts said raw material cost inflation would hurt profits.
