Budget watchdog warns on healthcare plans

The Congressional Budget Office on Wednesday served notice that if efforts to reform healthcare ended up creating a tightly controlled health insurance market, it would regard such a market as part of government.

The US legislature’s budget watchdog set out a strict set of guidelines that would determine whether a reformed marketplace remained in the private sector or not. Having private sector companies compete to provide health products would not be enough.
