Accountancy industry needs strong views

When Sam DiPiazza entered accountancy in 1973, an independent accounting rulemaker was a new concept and the US profession was losing face, embarrassed by Equity Funding, an insurance company that committed a massive fraud that went unnoticed by its auditors.

Fast forward to now and Mr DiPiazza steps down this year after eight years heading PwC, the largest of the global accounting networks.
