The concept of exploiting the subatomic behaviour of light particles to transmit information securely has great potential for government and commercial customers alike, but trying to get it to market is throwing up some significant challenges.

Security experts believe that in a world where a broken cipher can lead to loss of funds or lives, quantum cryptography is the only infallible way to send information securely over electronic networks.
