Biotech groups beset by trials and tribulations

Companies in almost every industry sector have been hurt by the recession, but for many of the small biotechnology groups engaged in early-stage drug development, the past few months have been traumatic.

This was highlighted again last week, when shares were suspended in Intercytex, the Cambridge-based cell therapy group that is developing skin- and wound-treatments.
