Scottish sales help Greene King’s dividend

The continued enthusiasm of Scottish pubgoers helped Greene King, the brewer and pub operator, achieve steady sales and maintain its dividend in what the company’s chief executive described on Tuesday as “one of the toughest trading periods for many years”.

Rooney Anand admitted trading conditions were likely to worsen in the new year. However, the group felt confident enough to pay the same interim dividend as last year of 7.3p.
