Fifth of 2007 HK IPOs fall on debut

One in five initial public offerings in Hong Kong fell on debut in 2007, in spite of a big rise in the benchmark index amid frenzied over-subscriptions for most IPOs, according to a report published Wednesday.

Seventeen of 80 companies that listed on the main board of the Hong Kong stock exchange last year closed below its offer price on the first day, according to PwC, the professional services firm.
