Nike jumps Umbro hurdle

Nike, the US sportswear company, cleared the most serious remaining hurdle to its agreed £285m acquisition of Umbro when the Office of Fair Trading said there was no competition case to answer.

The finale of the tricky transaction comes on January 31 when shareholders will vote on whether to accept the 195p a share offer.
