Guide to investment banks: Pick the bankers rather than the bank

“The best way to make money from financial advice is to give it”. This might overstate the argument, but it reflects the way it looks and feels to many corporate executives when it comes to evaluating the role of investment banks.

Investment banking cannot be classed as a classic profession with established codes backed up by effective sanctions and rigorous qualification processes. And, for some, the investment banker is over-rewarded and ensnared by irreconcilable conflicts.
