Turmoil erodes Afghan faith in future

After the most violent 12-month period since the Taliban were forced from power in 2001, the Afghan people are losing faith in the future of their country, the largest opinion poll ­conducted in Afghanistan has found.

Just 42 per cent of the 6,263 adults questioned nationwide said the country was moving in the right direction and almost a quarter felt the situation was deteriorating, according to research by the Asia Foundation, a US-based development charity.
