Diageo savours the new spirit of marketing

Andy Fennell, Diageo’s chief marketing officer, takes umbrage when Be There – a new marketing campaign for the group’s Smirnoff vodka brand – is described merely as an “advertising” campaign.

“Be There is not an ad campaign,” he insists. Diageo thinks of Be There as a “movement”.
