Lenders pass on full rate cut to homebuyers

Borrowers will be “substantially better off” after cuts to mortgage rates on Friday, according to lenders.

Most of the UK’s largest mortgage providers have now passed on the full 1.5 percentage point interest rate reduction in their standard variable rates (SVR). One also announced it would cut fixed rate mortgages and brokers expect other lenders to follow suit next week.
