Fed policymaker stresses inflation fight

The Federal Reserve needs to continue raising interest rates to keep inflation under control, and has little to gain from a pause in the tightening campaign, an influential Fed policymaker said on Wednesday.

Don Kohn, a member of the Fed's board, said that economic activity and prices would be affected for some time by the hurricane disruption on the Gulf coast, making it difficult to assess underlying trends, but that there were no obvious implications from this for monetary policy.
