Tibet talks to reopen amid controversy

China is to meet representatives of the Dalai Lama, it announced on Friday, resuming talks that foundered last year after the suppression of protests in Tibet in March.

The brief announcement by Xinhua, the official news agency, follows weeks of angry denunciations in China of the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader, who is accused by Beijing of instigating the Lhasa riots and attacks on ethnic Chinese.
