A courtroom showdown between two of the media’s most powerful executives ended Friday as a Delaware judge thwarted John Malone’s efforts to prevent IAC chief executive Barry Diller from restructuring the internet group.

Judge Stephen Lamb found that Mr Diller had not violated the terms of a special proxy agreement with Mr Malone’s Liberty Media – an IAC shareholder – when he announced plans to break IAC into five entities.
