Builders win £6m Wembley dispute

A four-year legal dispute over the construction of Wembley Stadium ended yesterday with a £6m court victory for the project's builders and a stinging rebuke from a judge against both sides for running up costs estimated at £22m.

Mr Justice Jackson awarded the settlement and nearly £2m in costs to Multiplex Construction, the Australian company which claimed that Darlington-based steel contractor Cleveland Bridge walked off the site in 2004.
