Aviva has appointed Patrick Regan as its new chief financial officer, taking over from Philip Scott, who will leave at the end of the year after 36 years with the company.

The 43-year-old Mr Regan, who will take over in February, is currently chief financial officer and chief operating officer of Willis, the insurance broker.
