BAE Systems is in talks to secure a second multi-billion pound export order from the Middle East for Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft. The British defence contractor is in early-stage negotiations with the government of Oman to sell them the aircraft, sources familiar with the negotiations confirmed.
Any agreement would be structured as a government-to-government contract, similar to last year's deal to sell Typhoons to Saudi Arabia. Oman has a close relationship with Britain which has supplied the Gulf sultanate with defence equipment for decades. The air force currently operates two squadrons of BAE Jaguar fighters, as well as American F-16 fighter jets.
