High hopes might be brought to earth in bonus shake-out

Muted enthusiasm is expected to be the reaction of investment bankers being told of their year-end bonuses, compensation experts said yesterday.

High performers can expect increases of 15-20 per cent on last year but average investment bankers, traders and fund managers will not see their bonuses rise in line with the increased profitability of their employers.
