Israeli watchdog sees no settlement freeze

The construction of settlements in the occupied West Bank is continuing “as usual”, a watchdog group said yesterday, despite the Israeli government’s announcement last week that it has stopped initiating new housing projects.

In a report that may spur tensions between Israel and the US over settlements, Peace Now said Jewish settlers had found ways to bypass the government’s freeze.
