Agencies take a greater role

The agencies that advise fund managers on how to vote are an increasingly important feature of the protests and rebellions that shareholders stage, writes Kate Burgess.

In the UK, one of the most influential is the Association of British Insurers' voting service, which issues red, amber, blue and green "tops" to alert members to corporate governance issues in annual reports.
