US missile intercepts defunct satellite

The US navy has successfully used a missile to intercept a damaged spy satellite that was falling to Earth carrying a potentially hazardous fuel.

The USS Lake Erie, an Aegis warship in the Pacific Ocean, launched a missile that intercepted the satellite 247km up in space, the Pentagon said on Wednesday night.
